Sometimes we have to struggle to understand the meaning of our gospel readings. Sometimes a parable may make sense, if one considers its ancient context. But it still may not make sense at all in our modern context. Sometimes there’s just no way to reconcile the conflicting ideas the reading presents. This week’s gospel is one of those.
